A Clinical Hypnotherapist guides clients into a state of deep mental, physical, and emotional relaxation. During hypnosis, the conscious mind—the busy, analytical part—takes a break, allowing access to the subconscious, where deeply rooted thought patterns and habits reside. This process helps facilitate positive changes, overcoming mental and emotional barriers that may be affecting well-being.
The experience of hypnosis varies for each client based on the technique used and individual psychology. Some may feel heightened awareness, while others enter a deeply relaxed state. Clients may hear every word spoken or find the hypnotist's voice fading in and out. In Ericksonian hypnosis, clients remain in control throughout the session, free to adjust their experience or awaken at any time.

Clinical Hypnotherapy can help individuals experiencing emotional or physical discomfort by addressing deeply ingrained habits, thought patterns, and trauma. While often associated with habit cessation, such as quitting smoking or losing weight, hypnosis is effective for a wide range of conditions. It has been successfully used to treat anxiety, depression, stress, phobias, pain management, insomnia, compulsive behaviors, and even support personal growth and confidence-building. Hypnosis enhances conventional treatments by promoting relaxation and unlocking the mind’s ability to facilitate healing. However, it is not a replacement for medical care, and success depends on a genuine commitment to improvement.
The belief that some people cannot be hypnotised stems from traditional, authoritarian hypnosis, which relied on scripted commands. Modern hypnosis, however, is more flexible and collaborative. Rather than directing you, I offer possibilities, allowing you to choose what resonates with you. With no force or resistance, hypnosis becomes a natural and effortless process for anyone open to the experience.
A common misconception is that hypnosis grants the hypnotherapist control over a client’s thoughts and actions. This myth, often fueled by TV and stage performances, is far from reality. Hypnosis is a state of focused awareness, where all suggestions must align with the individual's values and beliefs. Research, including studies from the University of NSW by Dr. Amanda Barnier, confirms that people under hypnosis do not lose control or act against their morals. Hypnosis cannot force someone to do anything they wouldn’t normally do, and all hypnosis is ultimately self-hypnosis. Clients remain aware, in control, and capable of rejecting any suggestion that does not resonate with them.
